Plymouth, WI – October, 2011: Officials of the Van Horn Auto Group
have announced they will be bringing a new but as of yet undisclosed
car line to the Plymouth area. The Van Horn Auto Group recently purchased the
former Jim Pankow Construction building on the north side of STH 23 in
Plymouth, across from the Aurora Medical Center.
The building already is being used as the drop-off
point for all of the group’s used vehicle operations and will continue
to be used for that purpose going forward.
Dick Strong, general manager of Van Horn Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in Plymouth, said last week they are still
negotiating with a couple possible vehicle makers and have no set
timeline as to when an announcement will be made.
Chuck Van Horn said, “At most of our locations, we
do not have the space for the car carriers to unload on our lots, so
they end up unloading on the street at all times of the day and night.
With this central location, right on State Highway 23 and 57, we will be able to
unload several carriers a day, off the highway, in a safer designated
drop sight.”
Van Horn said the new shop will serve as a “get
ready” site for all incoming vehicles before they are shipped to the
various retail lots. The work will include mechanical, paint work,
tires, detailing, vehicle certification, and posting the vehicles for
sale on the internet. Van Horn said that when everything is up and
going, the new facility will employ 40 to 50 skilled employees.
Strong said, “This move demonstrates our commitment to the greater Sheboygan County area.”
Van Horn said, “Logistically, this will streamline
our get ready and certification program, and enable us to process all
our used inventory from one location. Now we will be able to have the
car pictured and posted on the internet the same day it comes off the
truck.”
