Much Needed Truck Donation to Gentle Hands Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation

Gentle Hands Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc. is a Non-Profit animal shelter, located in Cascade WI, that offers a place to large and small animals that have been removed from abusive or neglectful situations, or are otherwise unwanted and at risk of being euthanized. Owners, Kristina Bludau and her husband Bruce Schroeder, provide housing, nursing, and rehab services for these animals.Kristina is certified in equine management and working towards her humane officer certification through the National Animal Control Association.

Over the years they have worked with abused, ill, injured and physically and emotionally traumatized animals and helped them regain trust in humans and live full lives socially with other animals. They  have horses, dogs, llamas, ducks, a rooster, peacocks, and a donut-eating pig! They are on call 24 hours from their Sheboygan County facility and serve any surrounding counties in need as well, and even provide transportation of the animal! They do all of this while both juggling completely separate full time jobs!

The financial strains of giving refuge to hundreds of animals is taking its toll though, and although they are the only local animal rescue they receive no funding from local, state, or federal government. They depend solely on private contributions, and this prompted Kristina to write the following letter to Chuck Van Horn after hearing about his willingness to help deserving people and organizations in need.

Of course, we immediately said YES! Here is a “before” photo of the old truck Kristina was driving:

We wish Kristina the best of luck in her admirable endeavors. It takes a person with a truly kind heart and ambitious character to heal these animals every day with such dedication. If you wish to make a donation please call 414-430-1401 or mail to PO Box 245, Plymouth WI 53073.
