The Van Horn Automotive Group recently donated a Dodge RAM truck to Habitat for Humanity Lakeside. This commitment to Global Stewardship will help Habitat for Humanity serve local families and communities around the world.

Habitat is a nonprofit organization that aims to eliminate poverty housing worldwide through a partnership with local donors, volunteers, and families in need. Since its foundation in 1976, Habitat has improved substandard housing, and built more than 300,000 homes in 90 countries – providing homes to 1.5 million people.

“Habitat for Humanity is a great organization that provides families a decent and affordable place to live,” said Teresa Van Horn, Owner of Joe Van Horn Chevrolet in Plymouth. “We are happy to support their local success with this donation.”

Locally, Habitat for Humanity Lakeside recently celebrated the dedication of their 33rd home on Edna Street, in Plymouth. In the past year, they have also opened a new ReStore in Sheboygan, expanded their staff, and added new programs such as “A Brush With Kindness.” With their 2012 success, they tithed $12,673 towards building homes in third world countries.

Through the aid of donations, and the help of local volunteers, Lakeside’s 20th anniversary in 2013 should prove even more successful as they continue to seek solutions for affordable housing.
