Van Horn Dodge is Sponsoring the Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club’s Nordic Ball

Van Horn Automotive has donated money to the Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club for their Nordic Ball! This event is taking place Saturday November 13, 2010 from 6:30pm to 10:00pm at Bo Mallies of Crystal Lake. Proceeds go to Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club grooming equipment benefiting Greenbush Trails.  There will be dining and dancing with live Sinatra music!

The Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Ski Club (NKMNSC) is a 501c3 organization with an extensive history of community service in eastern Wisconsin. The Club’s emphasis has been recreation related projects. From development of a Youth Ski Team, to hosting an annual winter festival and a major ski race, the NKMNSC perform projects that enhance the quality of life in eastern Wisconsin.

For the past 20 years, the NKMNSC have been responsible for recreational improvements in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Key NKMNSC projects have been integral to the long-term success of skiing, hiking and biking in Sheboygan County include:

* Development of a Youth Ski Team

* Lighted Ski Trails at Greenbush

* Coordination of volunteers for trail grooming and trail repair. Over 2000 volunteer hours have been directed towards trail improvements.

* Planning and building the Greenbush Recreational Shelter and ski equipment storage buildings. The Greenbush Shelter is a four season, heated, handicap accessible log building that enhances local recreational of all types, and is open all winter for cross-country skiing.

* Hosting the “NORDIC HEAVEN” event at the Greenbush Recreation area. This winter festival showcases a variety of winter recreation, and includes free ski and snow shoe lessons for adults and children.

* Hosting the annual Greenbush Nordic Challenge” Ski race for kids, youth, middle school and adult skiers.

* Having fun with other community winter events such as the “Retro Ski Day”, Ski the trails backwards day and Spring Fling Event.

* Working with the DNR to continuously improve our trails and winter recreation activities.
