Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund receives Pay-It-Forward Donation

3/9/16

Yesterday, Teresa Van Horn and Shannon Laehn met up with Gregg Voigt of Curt G. Joa, Tim Renzelmann, Vice President of the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund, and Bill Marklein of the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce to present them with the
Pay-it-Forward donation from the Sheboygan County Chamber Champions Gala held on February 25th.

Gregg Voigt decided to Pay-it-Forward to the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund. The Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund is a charitable organization that gives "gestures" to eligible cancer care patients and cancer survivors. They want to help as many people as possible with the money they raise, and a gesture provides things as small as wigs to as large as help with medical expenses.

Since 2002, SCCCF has approved hundreds of gestures totaling more that $900,000 in worth to help cancer patients and survivors. They want to help assist with the financial burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis.

SCCCF also offers a variety of healthy living programs to cancer patients and survivors such as "Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors" and "Up the River WITH a Paddle." To learn more about the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund and all the good that they do visit them at http://scccf.org/.

Van Horn Donates to Habitat for Humanity

3/7/16

With the weather warming up and winter coming to a close, it's almost construction season in Wisconsin again. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian organization that builds homes with and for people in need. In the United states alone, there are over 1,400 local branches. Across the world there are more than 70 organizations. Since 1976, 6.8 million people have been helped to improve their living conditions by Habitat for Humanity.

In Fond du Lac, WI Habitat for Humanity's ReStore takes donations of gently used housing items such as building materials, furniture, accessories, and appliances. They then resell the items for bargain prices. They also have helped 107 family members into completed homes in Fond du Lac county.

Van Horn Automotive Group donated a RAM 2500 and $5,000 to the Fond du Lac Habitat for Humanity to help them continue their meaningful work.

The gala included fundraising opportunities such as a silent auction, raffle ticket sales, a live auction, and a reverse auction (staring with a large dollar amount and having people promise a donation in that amount.) Over 200 people were at the event.

Van Horn donated $500 to the event and Teresa Van Horn designated an additional $50 donation per Van Horn Attendee at the event. With four employees at the event the final donation came to $700 to Samaritan's Hand.

Van Horn donated $1,000 to the event toward the Pay-it-Forward campaign. The Pay-it-Forward campaign takes donations and chooses a random Gala attendee to decide which Sheboygan County charity will receive the money.

Teresa Van Horn presented the check to Gregg Voigt of Curt C. Joa, Inc who was the random attendee picked. Voigt decided to donate the money to the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.

Van Horn Automotive Group Donates to Sheboygan County Food Pantry

Today, Van Horn Automotive Group traveled to the Sheboygan Food Pantry to deliver a check for a $250 donation. The Sheboygan Food Pantry helps feed many families in the area by providing donated and government funded food.

Jane Sukowaty, Secretary of the Sheboygan County Food Bank, says their hottest item right now is cranberries. "They [the government] thought cranberries were going to be the next big super food. They weren't. Something else took their place and now we have tons of cranberry products here to give away!," says Jane. That is great news for the people who want to boost their vitamin C intake!

Jane continued to tell us that the government provided food used to be things like cheese and milk and now they provide items such as turkey, chicken, and ham. She said it all depends on what kind of support the agriculture industry needs at the time.

The money for the donation was raised from the annual Van Horn Christmas party by the employees and from multiple sponsors of the event.

Van Horn Employees Raise Funds to Donate to Local Food Pantries

This year the Van Horn Automotive group celebrated a belated Christmas with their annual Christmas Party at Elkhart Lake's the Osthoff Resort on January 9, 2016. The event helped raise over $1,000 in cash and prizes, as well as a conference room full of food donations! Thanks to outside sponsors such as Automark, VinSolutions, and others, we were able to donate prizes to our Christmas party raffle as well.

We are please to announce that we have donated the food and a $500 donation to the Plymouth Food Pantry, Sheboygan Food Pantry, and the Fond Du Lac Food Pantry!

Van Horn Automotive Group Announces Truck Center

The Van Horn Automotive Group has begun demolition 12/17/15 of buildings on Eastern Avenue in Plymouth (across from Chuck Van Horn Dodge and Joe Van Horn Chevrolet) on the site of its new Van Horn Truck Center, THE TRUCK FACTORY. The new dealership will feature the State’s largest inventory of new Ram and Chevy trucks and vans along with all other makes and models of used trucks, vans and SUV’s for both consumer and commercial customers. This new, 12 acre (total) facility will allow truck customers to select from over 500 new and used trucks and vans and over 200 SUV’s along with an off-road test track, pre-weighted trailers for demonstrating towing characteristics and a dedicated upfit facility for the installation of accessories, bedliners, commercial truck bodies and commercial van upfits. “We are very excited about bringing this new benchmark facility to Plymouth and all of the upper Midwest” stated Paul Miller, Fleet & Commercial Truck Manager for the Van Horn Group. “It will allow unprecedented access for customers to be able to see and drive the largest selection of retail and commercial trucks, vans and SUV’s all at one location”. “We are building this as the first “destination” truck/SUV dealership in Wisconsin that people will want to come to even if they aren’t in the market for a vehicle, much the same as some sporting goods stores become destination shopping locations just because they are a cool place to visit”. A Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for spring/summer of 2016 at 3003 Eastern Avenue in Plymouth.

The Van Horn Automotive Group includes 12 family-owned Wisconsin dealerships selling new Chevrolet, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Jeep, Hyundai and Mazda vehicles along with all other used makes and models in Plymouth, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Milwaukee, Manitowoc and Madison (Stoughton).
